As our Vision Statement says,
We believe God has called us to tend the fabric of our congregational life with compassion and joy, fostering and nurturing relationships of care. We believe that all age groups need age-appropriate settings to explore, learn, share and grow their Christian faith. We offer several on-going and/or repeating groups for adults, as well as seasonal or one-time events, courses, gatherings or workshops. See event calendar for upcoming adult enrichment groups/events. Among our regular and repeated groups for adults are: Women's Bible Study: Adult women of all ages are invited to meet weekly on Wednesdays from 1–2:30 PM, in the Parlor for a time of fellowship and Bible study. Topical studies last approximately six weeks. Weekly attendance is not mandatory, but suggested to add to the cohesiveness of the group. Lead by Heather O'Toole, Director of Christian Education. Please email Heather at heatherotoole@charter.net for more information. Meditation and Centering Prayer: A weekly gathering on Wednesday evenings from 8:00 - 9:15 pm in the parlor, offered twice a year for 8-week sessions, led by Kelly Luetkemeyer, a layperson with years of experience and training in meditation and centering prayer. No prior experience in meditation is required and everyone is welcome. Kelly offers a reflection/devotion to focus the group for the evening as well as instruction and time for silent prayer/meditation (approximately 20 minutes). Discussion follows. Email Kelly at kgluetkemeyeyer@earthlink.net for additional information and session dates.
Annual Women's Winter Retreat: Adult Women of all ages gather together for 24 hours of respite and spiritual nurture at a local retreat center. This is a time for connecting with each other through meaningful prayer, worship, music, fellowship, food and fun! The ticket price includes lodging for one night, 3 meals and use of the facility for 24 hours. Each year features a new and exciting theme, which resonates throughout our time together. This year we will gather from 4pm Friday Jan 27th – 4pm Saturday Jan 28th at the lovely “Edward’s House” at the Massachusetts Conference of the United Church of Christ. Prologos [Gk. pro – before; logos – word, discourse, thought] :A group for those preparing to take the next step on their faith journey. This group, Prologos, meets for six weeknights, beginning after New Years each year. Led by Rev. Jan this group gathers to share the faith stories of their lives in conversation with the Story and one another. Guided by the six affirmations of the United Parish Vision Statement, we explore these six logos : Centered (in Christian Identity) Connected (to a Faith Community) Supported (in Loving Relationships) Called (into Authentic Living) Serving (in the world) Envisioning (the future) |
