All gatherings and events at the United Parish have been temporarily suspended during the COVID-19 emergency.

We encourage everyone to stay home and stay safe until we can gather in person again.

Events in the Life of Our Church

Throughout the year, the United Parish of Upton hosts several events here at the church. Some are celebrations in the life of the parish such as the annual Homecoming Brunch and Jazz Sunday Worship Service. Some are fundraisers; the Upton Town-wide Yard Sale held in conjunction with Upton's own Heritage Day and the Turkey Supper, all of which benefit the programs and outreach of the United Parish. Some of our events benefit outreach projects which the United Parish supports; the Upton Clean Up Day to benefit our wider community and the Dessert Auction, which benefits the Deacons' Benevolence Fund.

Be sure to check our calendar and join us for any or all of these occasions.

Ongoing Programs

Junior Youth Group

Youth in grades 6-8 will meet with leaders, Brian Yurewicz and Jeff Ng on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month from 9:45-11:15 unless otherwise noted. Click here to see pictures of the first JYG meeting and check the calendar for upcoming meetings. Youth will meet in the church cafe at 9:45am.

Senior Youth Group

Youth in grades 9-12 will meet with leaders, Kathleen Ballard and Beth LaCross on Sundays at 10:00. Check the calendar for exact dates. The Youth have plans for several upcoming events and fundraisers including a social event in March, the ongoing Got Sneakers? shoe drive (see below), the annual Pancake Breakfast on Palm Sunday, and preparing for the seedling sale in May. Proceeds from all fundraisers go to the Youth Empowerment Fund, which will help fund the youth mission trip scheduled for summer 2020.

Got Sneakers Fundraiser

Do you have old sneakers/cleats you no longer wear or your kids have outgrown? The Youth Group is working on a sneaker recycling project that keeps old sneakers/cleats out of landfills by either recycling them or redistributing them to the more than 6 million people world-wide who don't own a single pair. If you have sneakers or cleats (no metal spikes) that no longer suit you, please tie them together by the laces and drop them in one of the collection boxes located in the vestry and cafe. The Youth Group will receive compensation for each pair and the funds will go toward the Youth Empowerment Fund.

Lunch Bunch

Second Thursday of each month at noontime (October-May). The group meets in the lower vestry. All seniors and retirees are invited to come for a time of conversation and fellowship. Bring your lunch if you like, coffee and dessert will be provided.

Next gathering;  TBD

Community Supper

Hosted by the Faith in Action Committee, the Community Supper is held monthly, September through June, every third Thursday at 5:30pm in the lower vestry (use the ground floor side entrance).

The Community Supper is a place where our guests can enjoy the company of new and old friends and take a break from having to cook one evening a month. It's an opportunity for those outside of our congregation to come in and see what the United Parish is about, and of course it offers a nutritious meal for all, including a main dish, vegetarian option, salad, bread (generouly donated by Panera Bread), dessert and beverge.

We accept a free will offering to help provide the resources necessary to prepare the meal. Donations are not required. Come and bring a friend!

Next Community Supper ~ TBD

LGBTQ Social Group

A new Social Group for LGBTQ folks and friends (45+) will gather on occasion at the United Parish. The purpose of the group is for LGBTQ folks to have a safe place to meet and be themselves, to share stories, make friends, plan future gatherings, community and outreach events. The group will meet one Saturday evening each month (future dates TBD). For more information, contact Rhonda Pilla at

Confirmation is offered every other year for all 15-18 year-olds who have not yet been confirmed. The next confirmation program will begin in the fall of 2020.

Church Announcements

We are making worship announcements more effective, integrated, and meaningful by incorporating them into our worship service. If you have information to share regarding the life of the church, please take a moment to plan your announcement ahead. Getting your announcement in the worship schedule is easy - you can reach out to the church office for assistance, or click here for an online form. See below for a brief description of the types of announcements in worship.

Your announcement is a testimony if its purpose is to inform - if it's about telling what you have seen and heard God doing in our ministry. These announcements can be made at any time. They are not time sensitive and do not request direct assistance.

Your announcement is a call to offering if its purpose is to invite, to share opportunities, or to call the congregation to serve with financial gifts, time, input, or spiritual support. These announcements may be time sensitive.

Whether your announcement is a testimony or a call to offering you may request two different times to make your announcement. This allows you to repeat information, further helping people internalize your message. Church staff will respond to your request and confirm with you the schedule of your announcements and ask for details where needed.

Do you have an announcement for a Sunday soon? We look forward to hearing from you!
