The Reverend Jennifer Geary grew up on a dairy farm in Western Massachusetts where she was active in church, school and community groups. She attended Washington University in St. Louis and Westfield State, graduating with a degree in Biology. She spent several years working as a Substitute Teacher and Coach.

Jennifer began her call to professional ministry as the Director of Education at Old First Church in Springfield. She then attended Lancaster Theological Seminary graduating with a Master of Divinity and was ordained in the United Church of Christ in 1995. She served her first parish in Morristown, VT as a full-time settled pastor for eight years. Jennifer spent the next ten years as an Interim Pastor serving seven churches for various lengths of time. During this time, Jennifer also worked as a Nursing Assistant & Substitute teacher. 

For seven years, Jennifer served as the Director of Irons Homestead, the Outdoor Ministry site for the Historic Rhode Island Conference UCC. Rev. Geary  returned to Interim Ministry in May of 2020 and has just completed three years in Millis, MA. Caring for those on the margins, Jennifer has worked with the RI State Council of Churches advocating at the RI State House. She enjoys gardening, history, running and all kinds of play.

Bud, Jennifer’s husband of 40 years, is the Director of Maintenance at Aldersgate Camp & Retreat in Glocester, RI.  They have three children, living in CT, MA & VT, and four grandchildren.  Jennifer and Bud currently reside in Woonsocket, RI where they are renovating a 120+ year-old house.

Sandra has been a member of the United Parish since 2002 and has served on several boards and committees. She became the Church Administrator in 2006 and says her favorite part of being in the church office is meeting, greeting and working with church family and community members.

Music Director

Susan Bonito

Susan has been the Music Director at the United Parish of Upton since May 2001. She is an active performer, voice teacher, and music director and serves as Chair of the Voice Department at Groton Hill Music School in Groton, MA. She also teaches private voice lessons in the Mendon/Upton area, as well as in Harvard, MA. Her professional affiliations have included the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), the American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA) and the American Choral Director’s Association (ACDA). Susan enjoys cooking, gardening, writing/arranging music, planning worship, and meditation, as well as choral and solo singing. One of Susan's favorite hymns is: When in our Music God is Glorified:

I've been a member of the United Parish of Upton for nearly 20 years, participating in youth group, deacons, books groups, the Community Supper and Faith in Action. I live in Hopkinton with my wife Carol. Our two grown children, Jake and James, grew up in the United Parish and developed lasting friendships here. I feel blessed to be part of this wonderful congregation and am grateful to be in the company of such a loving and caring group of people.
